Music

Music has been a cornerstone in my life. No matter how I felt about an event I could find a song that matched my tone. Good, bad, and otherwise.

I have tried playing a variety of instruments. I grew up in a very musical family, so it is only natural that I have grown more and more interested in a wide variety of musical forms and instruments. My house is littered with drum sets, guitars, a bass, hand percussion instruments, a piano, a gong or two, even a (cracked) cymbal clock a made out of a Paiste 18" Full Crash.

Drums

I have been playing the drums off and on for about 15 years now. It started out, when I swiped my mom's kit. Yes, my mother had a drum set. Everyone in my family can play more than one instrument, except me. I am the musical caveman, with very limited guitar and bass ability. I mostly thump, very loudly!

Guitar

A very poor guitar player am I. I love the feel of the instrument in my hands, but I have not on 'clicked' with the instrument as of yet. I suppose more practice time would make a big difference...

Bass

Ditto for the bass...

MP3s

Right now, I am listening to my MP3 player. Queensryche, 'The Lady Word Black' from Live Evolution murmurs through the speakers.

I have been slowly building my MP3 collection. I have about 7,000 encoded files right now. I still have 6 discs sitting my shelf that I need to convert. I only encode my own albums. If I like something I usually end up buying it, so why bother doing it any other way. I tend to be very loyal to bands I like, and buying their albums is one way I can support them in their creative effort which I take pleasure from. Makes sense to me.

So, no. I am not interseted in getting any 'new' clips or sharing the ones that I have.

That said, I have no problem buying used CDs. The royalty has been paid, and most of the time it is material that I am experimenting with. If I like an artist, I will buy more used and new.

I am a big fan of music DVDs, regardless of if it is a video collection or a concert. I will buy it. I don't really dig going to concerts anymore. I like seeing the show, but I can do without the rest of it. I have about 25 music relate DVDs at the moment.
